Perhaps you’ve seen these colorful ads on Butte County buses, at bus stops and in parent magazines. First 5 Butte County is proud to partner with text4baby – the first free texting service to provide health information to pregnant women and new moms from pregnancy through a baby’s first year.

“Every woman deserves access to information that will help her give her baby the best possible chance at a healthy start in life,” said Judy Meehan, CEO, National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB). “It’s partners like First 5 Butte County that are making it possible for text4baby to deliver health messages to those who need them most.”

Women who sign up for the service by texting BABY to 511411 (or BEBE for Spanish) receive three free SMS text messages each week timed to their due date or baby’s date of birth. These messages focus on a variety of topics critical to maternal and child health, including birth defects prevention, immunization, nutrition, seasonal flu, mental health, oral health, safe sleep, and more. Text4baby messages also connect women to prenatal and infant care services and other resources.

Parents Anonymous® Inc. is a family strengthening program that effectively prevents child abuse and neglect using the Strengthening Families approach. Parents Anonymous recognizes that being a parent is a critically important job, 24 hours a day, and it is not always easy. They believe that asking for help is a sign of strength, and that everyone needs a supportive, listening person to reach out to in times of need. To provide exactly this kind of support to parents and caregivers, Parents Anonymous launched the National Parent Helpline® where callers get emotional support from a trained Advocate and become empowered and a stronger parent. The Helpline can be reached at 1-855- 4A PARENT (1-855-427-2736), Monday through Friday 10:00 AM PST to 7:00 PM PST .
