The desired result of the Systems Strengthening Initiative is “Systems are collaboratively responsive and proactively serve children and their families.”
The new Systems Strengthening Initiative uses the three Levers for Change from the Protective Factors Framework to build the capacity and sustainability of systems and programs serving young children and their families. The three levers are:
1) Parent Partnerships (Parents are consistently involved as decision-makers in program planning, implementation, and assessment);
2) Professional Development (Professionals at every level are trained to orient their work around a consistent message focused on strengthening families);
3) Policies and Systems (Platforms for information across diverse institutions are created and linkages among agencies using Strengthening Families as a basis for their work are reinforced).
