AMY ASHER

ALTERNATE COMMISSIONER

Assistant Chief Probation Officer, Butte County Probation Department

Amy Asher has served as the Assistant Chief Probation Officer for Butte County since 2022, bringing over 15 years of dedicated service to the department. A graduate of California State University, Chico, with a degree in Social Work, Amy is a passionate advocate for youth, families, and evidence-based practices.

Prior to her current role, Amy served as Program Manager for the department, where she led numerous initiatives aimed at supporting positive outcomes for young people. She was instrumental in introducing the Strengthening Families Program to the department and personally facilitated sessions for five years. As Assistant Chief, she continues to guide departmental operations and program implementation with a strong focus on equity, innovation, and community collaboration.

Born in Texas and raised in Chico, Amy’s commitment to public service is deeply rooted in her local community. She is especially motivated by opportunities to empower families and foster systemic change through relationship-based practices and early intervention.

Outside of work, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband, their three sons, their dog Luna, and their cat. Whether walking the dog, barbecuing with family, or enjoying a quiet moment at home, she cherishes time with loved ones and the balance it brings to her life.
