ALTERNATE COMMISSIONER
Executive Director, HappyNest, Butte County’s Child Abuse Prevention Council
Clearance & Compliance Manager, Children’s Hope Foster Family Agency
I am delighted to serve with First 5 and pleased to be a part of providing resources and supports to young families. I am a 20-year resident of Butte County and have enjoyed spending years volunteering in assorted child/youth organizations and events, believing as Mother Teresa once said, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples”. Adding to that, I believe that together our ripples can create waves of change that will strengthen families and lay the foundation for a thriving and resilient community.
I enjoy hanging with my hubby, day hikes, live theatre, family history research, order (a bit of an organization-freak), and being active.
I have an Associate of Science and a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice/protective services, with early career ambitions of working with youth in the juvenile justice system. Recognizing my limitations and strengths, I now pursue the “upstream” approach where I am encouraged by and continue to advocate for programs that will support homes in the health, safety and wellbeing of children as they grow into strong, capable, fortified youth and continue into adulthood.
