First 5 Butte County
Children & Families
Research shows that when children begin life healthy, loved, and supported, their futures are brighter. In 1998 California voters approved Proposition 10 which applied a tax on tobacco products to fund improved outcomes for young children. The First 5 Butte County Children & Families Commission uses these tax dollars to fund local programs and services for young children to enhance their health and early growth experiences. This enables them to be more successful in school and gives them a better opportunity to succeed throughout their lives.
