The First 5 Center at Esperanza House in Gridley offers diverse programs like support for pregnant moms, playgroups, and dual language reading groups. All programs and services are free to all interested families, caregivers, and friends that play a role in a young child's life. This multicultural family cultural center promotes inclusivity, celebrating heritage through dual language learning groups. It supports families in multicultural settings, nurturing connection and belonging and appreciation for community cultural diversity and children development support.

Primeros Pasos es un grupo de juego enfocado en la salud temprana y relacional para bebés y niños pequeños. Para quién es: Bebés y niños pequeños de 6 meses a 30 meses.

Aims to foster early social and emotional connections while providing children and caregivers with a fun, positive environment for interactive learning. Who it’s for: Babies and toddlers ages 6 months to 30 months.

Pequeños Artistas es un grupo creativo para explorar el arte, la autoexpresión y las conexiones con la alfabetización temprana a través de la hora del cuento seguida de proyectos prácticos de manualidades y pintura. Los niños fortalecen sus habilidades de movimiento,creatividad y confianza mientras los cuidadores participan para apoyar y fomentar la experimentación con materiales. Little Artists is a creative playgroup for exploring art, self-expression, and early literacy connections through storytime followed by hands-on craft and painting projects. Children develop fine motor skills, creativity, and confidence while caregivers participate to support and encourage experimentation with materials. Who it’s for: Children ages 3 to 5 years

Raíces de Apoyo es un grupo de apoyo para padres y cuidadores de bebés. El grupo se ofrece sin costo alguno para todas las familias y tiene como objetivo promover conexiones sociales entre las familias. Se ofrecen pan dulce, café, té y chocolate caliente. Para familias y cuidadores con bebés y niños pequeños de hasta 5 años.

Roots of Support is a support group for parents and caregivers of babies. The group is offered at no cost to families and aims to promote social connections among families. Sweet bread, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are provided. For families and caregivers with babies and toddlers up to 5 years old.

Caregivers are welcome to drop in for assistance with family resources, access to our food pantry, diapers, and help with applications or translations. We’re here to support you! Please call to schedule an appointment: 530-782-0293

Families with children ages 17 and under can visit our center once a week to pick up food from our pantry. The food pantry is available Tuesday through Thursday, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
